Papirfabrikken – kunst og industri er et DKS program som er utviklet for 6. trinn i Notodden kommune. Industriene Tinfos og Hydro knyttes sammen med utgangspunkt i vannkraft og energi.
Førskolebarna i Notodden inviteres til fortellerstund med Industrieventyret knyttet mot Theodor Kittelsens Svælgfos bilder, etterfulgt av kunstnerisk verksted.
I 1907 og 1908 laget Theodor Kittelsen akvareller fra utbyggingen av kraftverket Svælgfoss. De fem akvarellene er tegnet på bestilling fra Sam Eyde. akvarellene henger permanent utstilt i Lysbuen kunstmuseum.
NIA har satt sammen en programpakke i tre varianter, spesielt tilpasset større elevgrupper i videregående skole. Elevene introduseres til verdensarvens fire pillarer gjennom egen erfaring med kulturminnene på Rjukan.
Norsk Hydro bygde Rjukan på rekordfart. I løpet av få år reiste det seg store industrianlegg for produksjon av elektrisk kraft og kunstgjødsel til verdensmarkedet. Rjukanfossen skulle temmes for å gi verden mat.
